MIDTERM LEARNING OBJECTIVES REWORKED:

If the online Zoomerang survey was being used as a quiz to assess the students’ comprehension of some of the basic concepts in an assigned reading in an English course, then the connected learning objective could be:

Students will identify the key factors in the main character’s motivation and will predict the character’s future choices based on his past motivation.

From the students’ survey submissions the teacher could then measure whether the students could identify the correct key factors and could logically explain their prediction in an open-ended response.

Another example of a learning objective intertwined with the Zoomerang survey assessment tool could be connected to a project where the students themselves are doing political polling surveys regarding an upcoming election.  The learning objective connected to this assessment could be:

Each student group will construct a set of survey questions based on their hypothesis of how certain types of people vote then analyze the submitted survey responses to judge their hypothesis, thus examining the civic and political attitudes of people in their society.

The teacher could develop a rubric to measure and assess the students’ whole survey project and final analysis.
